OFFICIAL - Armor Guide Empty
PostSubject: OFFICIAL - Armor Guide   OFFICIAL - Armor Guide EmptyThu Aug 21, 2014 10:19 pm

This is a basic guide for players to reference when wanting to figure out the protection of any specific suit currently available on the roleplay.

Kevlar Types

Type IIA - A bulletproof vest designed to withstand at least one .45 ACP round or a lower caliber.

Type II - A bulletproof vest designed to withstand at least one .357 magnum round or a lower caliber.

Type IIIB - A bulletproof vest designed to withstand at least one 5.56x45 round or a lower caliber.

Type III - A bulletproof vest designed to withstand at least one 7.62x51 round or a lower caliber.

Type IV - A bulletproof vest designed to withstand at least one .308 armor piercing round or a lower caliber.

Impact Resistance

None / Very little - You'll be feeling the entire bulk of the hit / bullet as it impacts you. Depending on the caliber of the round this will most likely bruise and crack multiple bones inside your body.

Moderate - The bulk of the hit or bullet will be reduced slightly. Most shots will leave bruises but it will require a higher caliber round, most likely of a 5.45x39 or higher before the shots start cracking bones.

Intermediate - The bulk of the hit or bullet will be reduced significantly. It will require at least a .45 ACP round before the shots start leaving bruises and will require at least a 7.62x39 or higher before the shots start cracking bones.

Advanced - The bulk of the hit or bullet will be reduced a very large amount. It will require at least a 5.45x39 round before shots start leaving bruising and at least a
7.62x51 before shots start cracking bones.

Extreme - The bulk of the hit or bullet will be reduced an extreme amount. It will require at least a 5.56x45 before shots start leaving bruises and at least a 7.62x54 before shots start cracking bones.

Tier 1 -

Chain-Link Anorak: Simply chain mesh sewn into the anorak's fabric. It provides no protection against bullet penetration. Provides no anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - N/A]

Reinforced Trench Coat : A trench coat with a basic police-grade bulletproof vest sewn inside. It halts penetration against up to a .45 ACP, but provides very little protection against the impact of the bullet itself.  Can take one .45 ACP round before the possibility of failing. Provides no anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type IIA]

Visor / Solace Suit : A specialized reinforced trench coat with a closed respiratory system attached along with a visor helmet. It provides slightly enhanced protection compared to the reinforced trench coat meaning it halts penetration against up to a .357 Magnum, but once again provides very little protection against the impact of the bullet itself. Can take one .357 Magnum round before the possibility of failing. Provides no anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type II]

Tier 2 -

IO7 : A BDU with a Kevlar overlay which includes a rubberized filter gasmask. It halts penetration against up to a 5.56x45 rifle round, and also includes a single steel trauma plate to provide moderate protection against the bullet's impact. Can take one 5.56x45 round before the possibility of failing. Provides little anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type IIIB]

IO8 : A BDU with a Kevlar overlay which includes a rubberized filter gasmask. Unlike its non upgraded counterpart, the IO8 incorporates a standard type III bulletproof vest, meaning it halts penetration up to a 7.62x39 rifle round, and also includes two steel trauma plates to provide moderate protection against the bullet's impact. Can take one 7.62x39 round before the possibility of failing. Provides little anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type III]

PSZ9D - A thin rubberized suit covered by a protective BDU that includes a rubberized filter gasmask. It halts penetration up to a 7.62x39 rifle round, and also includes a single steel trauma plate to provide moderate protection against the bullet's impact. Can take one 7.62x39 round before the possibility of failing. Provides little anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type III] – (This is the same as the PSZ9D – Duty Varient)

Sunrise Suit - A fire retardant rubberized protective suit which also includes a rubberized filter gasmask. It halts penetration against up to a 5.56x45 rifle round, and also includes a single steel trauma plate to provide moderate protection against the bullet's impact. Can take one 5.56x45 round before the possibility of failing. Provides moderate anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type IIIB] – (This is the same as the Wind of Freedom)

Combat Sunrise Suit - A fire retardant rubberized protective suit which also includes a rubberized filter gasmask. Unlike its non upgraded counterpart, it halts penetration against up to a 7.62x51 rifle round, and also includes a single steel trauma plate to provide moderate protection against the bullet's impact. Although it includes upgraded protection, it sacrifices none of its anomaly protection and retains the moderate anomaly protection of a standard sunrise. Can take one 7.62x51 round before the possibility of failing. [Kevlar Grade - Type III]

Stealth Sunrise Suit - A light-weight, fire retardant rubberized protective suit which also includes a rubberized filter gasmask and generation one night vision goggles.  This suit, unlike its non upgraded counterpart, actually sacrifices armor protection for a light weight and much more silent suit. It halts penetration up  to a .357 magnum round, and also includes a single steel trauma plate to provide moderate protection against a bullet's impact. Can take one .357 Magnum round before the possibility of failing. It sacrifices no anomaly protections, meaning it provides moderate anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type II]

Heavy Sunrise Suit - A very heavy, non fire retardant rubberized protective suit which sacrifices its rubberized filter gasmask for a tactical helmet which can stop penetration up to a .45 ACP.  This suit, unlike its non upgraded counterpart, sacrifices both mobility and anomaly protection in order to incorporate heavy bullet protect. It halts penetration up to a 7.62x54R rifle round, and also includes three steel trauma plates which provides intermediate protection against a bullet's impact. This suit sacrifices almost of its anomaly protection for its upgraded armor, meaning it provides little anomaly protection. Can take one 7.62x54R round before the possibility of failing. [Kevlar Grade - Type III]

Tier 3 -

SEVA Suit - A fire retardant protective rubberized suit with a modified faraday cage built in, along with a closed respiratory system with a glass bubble visor. It halts penetration up a 5.56x45 rifle round, and also includes two steel trauma plates, which provides moderate protection against a bullet's impact. Due to being designed specifically for anomaly protection, it has an extreme anomaly protection. Can take one 5.56x45 round before the possibility of failing. [Kevlar Grade - Type IIIB]

Combat / Heavy SEVA - A fire retardant protective rubberized suit with a modified faraday cage built in, along with a closed respiratory system with a bullet-resistant plexiglass bubble visor with a customized tactical helmet which halts penetration up to a 5.56x45 rifle round. It has slightly superior protection to its non upgraded counterpart and halts penetration up to a 7.62x54R rifle round, and also includes two titanium trauma plates which provides advanced protection against a bullet's impact. It sacrifices no anomaly protection, meaning it provides extreme anomaly protection. Can take one 7.62x54R round before the possibility of failing. [Kevlar  Grade - Type III]

Hunter SEVA - A fire retardant protective rubberized suit with a modified faraday cage built in, along with a closed respiratory system with a glass bubble visor. It has extremely durable chain-mesh sewn into the suit, giving it extremely good resistance against slashes and stabs, making it the ideal suit for hunting mutants. Due to the chain-mesh sewn inside, the suit sacrifices bullet protection and can halt penetration up to a 5.56x45 rifle round, and also includes three steel trauma plates which provides intermediate protection against a bullet's impact. This suit sacrifices no anomaly protection for its upgrades, meaning it provides extreme anomaly protection. Can take one 5.56x45 round before the possibility of failing. [Kevlar Grade - Type IIIB]

Berill-5M - A Ukrainian military protective suit that has been modified for use in the zone that includes a Sphere-9 helmet which halts penetration up to a 5.56x45 rifle round. It halts penetration up to a 7.62x54R armor piercing round, and also includes four titanium trauma plates which provides extreme resistance to a bullet's impact. Can take one 7.62x54R round before the possibility of failing. It provides little anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type III] – (This is the same as the Guardian of Freedom, except the Guardian of Freedom has moderate anomaly protection.)

Tier 4 -

Skat9M - A protective military suit designed to withstand extreme conditions and punishment that includes a Sphere-12 tactical helmet which halts penetration up to a 7.62x51 rifle round. It halts penetration up a .308 armor piercing rifle round, and includes an AR500 plate which provides extreme protection against a bullet's impact. Can take one .308 AP round before the possibility of failing. It provides little anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type IV]

Radsuit - An extremely heavy, highly customized suit designed by the military specifically for the zone that includes a highly customized tactical helmet which can halt penetration up to a 7.62x54R rifle round. It halts penetration up to a .308 armor piercing rifle round, and includes a single AR500 trauma plate which provides extreme protection against a bullet's impact. Can take two .308 AP rounds before the possibility of failing. It has moderate anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type IV]

Exoskeleton - An extremely heavy, highly customized suit with servos designed by the military specifically for the zone that includes a highly customized tactical helmet which can halt penetration up to a 7.62x54R rifle round. It halts penetration up to a .308 armor piercing rifle round, and includes two AR500 trauma plate which provides extreme protection against a bullet's impact. Can take two .308 armor piercing rounds before the possibility of failing. It has moderate anomaly protection. [Kevlar Grade - Type IV]

Define homemade armor. Give me an example of something you'd want to see on here.

Well, I'll give a couple videos and explanations on how I would modify them:

I could find more, but this is for the basic explanation. Now, in the first video, its actually part of an eight part series on that guy early early channel where he made some homemade bulletproof slab that he shot a bunch with different things, none of them penetrated and the steel (1/4 mild steel) in the back took no damage at all. He used a 3/4 inch ceramic plate in the front that he just made from clay in a class, he also said it took a a 7.62x39 armor piercing to get through it. Now, in the second video it shows what a single carbon steel saw plate can prevent.

Now, persay, you replace the mild steel in that first video with carbon steel like said before, rearrange the order of some items, and find a way to carry them, then you could make a vest out of scavenged saws and plates of ceramic (from misc. things, ask if wanting elaboration) with a bit of cushion for trauma protection and you would have a homemade bulletproof plate that you could make more of, seeing as ceramic plates can be literally made from the ground.

~Ala wiki~
The Skat-9M is a heavy duty armoured suit used by the Ukrainian military and stalkers hired by it. It is composed of a vest with PSZ-12p armour, a built-in anomaly compensation suit and a Sphere-12 helmet. It is second only to the exoskeleton in terms of protection.

-I'm assuming that means it has some anomalous protection.

-If you take a full power rifle round to the head, you're dead. Bullet stopped or not. There aren't the proper medical facilities in the Zone to deal with cerebral hemorrhages. I doubt helmets can stop these rounds in the first place.

-Regarding NIJ standards, IV is meant to stop one AP .30-06 round (which are discontinued last I checked) which means it'll stop a 54r.

-IIIA is more for high power handguns that are a lot more blunt and slower than rifle rounds. 5.56 will probably go through. Velocity is why this armor can stop a .44 Magnum and not a 4.6 from an MP7. This is because anything at or below this rating are soft plates made from Kevlar and the sorts. Anything above, and you're talking about the grade-A steel and ceramics.

But that's just what I've seen online. Take it as you will.
